Eyewear – The Perfect Fall Accessory
Hello, fall 2018! Animal prints, slides, mules, clutches, plaid, and florals are on trend. While these looks are hot on the runway, you also need to think about your eyewear as a fashion statement. How will the color, size and shape work for your face? Following is a guide to finding the best look for you:
Start with skin tone
You will fall into one of three categories: warm, cool, or neutral. Warm people have green or yellow undertones. Think olive complexion. If you’re able to see your veins through your skin they will appear greenish if you have warm undertones. If more blue, then you are most likely a cool person. The color wheel will help you determine which color(s) of frames will flatter you most. In general, you want to go with colors on the opposite side of the wheel. So cool undertones will look best in orange shades.
Take stock of your wardrobe
Take an inventory of your closet. Do you have a lot of warm colors? Jewel tones? This will be a good starting point to determine which eyewear looks will suit you best. You have two options—analogous or complementary colors. The former means neighboring shades on the color wheel, while the latter means complementary colors. If you tend to wear one color tone, then look for analogous color frames.
Marry style with practicality
Do you want your glasses to command attention or play a supporting role? If you consider yourself a fashion plate, you’ll want to look to certain brands, like Calvin Klein, to get that message across.
Or maybe you prefer a more subdued look? Look for eyewear with neutral colored frames to divert attention. Furthermore, don’t forget to take lifestyle into account. Does your job require you to dress up a lot? Or do you work in a casual environment or in a setting that might require durability and resiliency from eyewear? Will you need multiple pairs for different occasions and venues? For example, a construction worker would have different needs than an accountant.
